What To Expect

Jessica Popovich Photography

because I want my children to see photographs that aren’t on a screen! And even if I order prints, I seem to only frame one, and the rest get juggled around my house! As a newborn photographer, wedding photographer, and family photographer, I am not a “sales” type of person. I just want to create amazing images for you. If you need help creating canvas walls or albums, I can absolutely do that for you.

Just ask!

You’ve done your research and selected a family photographer you’re confident can make you feel comfortable and capture some amazing memories for you! I am so excited you have decided to have photographs taken; it’s so important to have memories saved because the time just goes faster and faster! Think about what you might like to do with your portraits. I recently created a canvas wall in my house and ordered an album,

The week of your session, we will send you a confirmation with the final location details. Ask us any last-minute questions and feel free to tell me any ideas and preferences that may have popped up since you completed your questionnaire.

Once you book a session, we will send a contract, a questionnaire and a model release via email. Please complete these before your session!  They keep it legal for me to post internet preview shots and they give me insight into planning your session.

During your session, I will start with posed, smiling-at-the-camera photos of the group while everyone is fresh, because Grandma needs one to frame! But after I am confident we have this shot, we can take the fun photos! I will direct you to laugh, smile, whisper, kiss, etc. in order to get genuine reactions from your children.

If your kids seem crazy, silly and unruly, don’t look worried. Embrace it and be happy and silly with them! When I arrived at my own photo session recently, I had to chase my son around the park for a few moments until he felt comfortable in front of the camera, and it was way better than the expressions we would have gotten if my husband had continued with threats of losing toys! I like real moments, and I like to get photos of mom and dad with each child if time allows. It’s so important for parents to be in photos!

The day of your session, try to be a few minutes early, because it’s easy to drive by the location, get stuck in traffic, etc. Feel free to text me if you are unsure of location and may be lost – my number will be on your paperwork. For sessions involving kids, be sure the children have eaten enough to be comfortable for the length of the session. Have a hidden snack bribe available in case you need it!

After your session, I will try my best to post a Facebook preview within a week if you allow. Your remaining proofs will be complete within four weeks.

When your proofs are ready, we’ll reach out to you to schedule a preview and ordering meeting. You’ll come to my studio to see all your beautiful images for the first time! This is when you’ll be able to order the prints, canvases, albums, and other products you want with your final photos. You may also have the option to upgrade your package and purchase all your digital photos. The price to upgrade depends on the number of images.

I hope you love your session and your images!

My goal is for you to have fun memories of your family portraits to go along with the images themselves. The best compliment to me is when you tag me, share the photos, show them off, refer a friend to me, and write me a review. Thank you again! I cannot wait to see what your session has in store!
